Hi, my name is Evelyn Tyan, and I am an upcoming senior majoring in HPA, minoring in IST and LER. I am from Bethesda, Maryland, a suburb outside of DC. I am Chinese. My mom is from Singapore and my dad is from Taiwan. At Penn State, I strongly believe in giving back to my community but I also recognize the importance of good academic standing. I have held Vice President positions in organizations such as the Asian Pacific American Caucus, the Multicultural Greek Council, and Sigma Omicron Pi (an asian-interest sorority). I have also held many other positions in different organizations, like representative for the University Park Undergraduate Association (Penn State's Student Government).

I am very excited in meeting new people and helping a mentee! I actually had a difficult time my first year at Penn State, and so I have many tips and ideas on how to avoid the same mistakes that I made. As I've been extremely involved my past 2 years, I feel that I can effectively steer my mentee to whatever direction she/he would like in terms of getting involved. I also want my mentee to know that you are here for academics, and that is of utmost importance.

In the summer, I will be interning for a division administrator at UPMC, a hospital mainly in Pittsburgh. As for my other hobbies, I love singing, rock-climbing, and hiking.
