Jordan Chapman  B.A., Anthropology and Geosciences

Jordan Chapman, from South Philadelphia, has excelled at Penn State despite many obstacles that, for many, would be too daunting to overcome. After stints at both Holy Family University and the Community College of Philadelphia, he was accepted to Penn State but, because his family could not cover the unmet need, he deferred his admission until the spring 2013 semester so he could work to earn the necessary funds to attend. Still, upon his arrival to campus, Jordan flourished and this summer he will graduate with a double major in Anthropology and Geosciences and a minor in Geography. Jordan has been a valued member of the Student Support Services Program and a McNair Scholar. He participated in a field expedition to Israel and presented at the Penn State Summer Research Symposium. Recently, Jordan was invited to speak at a Mount Nittany Society gathering about the importance of financially supporting first-generation college students. Jordan’s ultimate goal is to earn a Ph.D.
