Academic Scholarship Award

Nicole Telfer
B.S., Human Development and Family Studies

Nicole Telfer is a senior who will graduate in May with a bachelor of science degree in human development and family studies, lifespan developmental science track. While at Penn State, Nicole has served as a mentor at the State College Area High School, membership chair for the Black Student Union, student manager at the Paul Robeson Cultural Center, co-founder of the Dark Storm Step Team, vice president for Adventist Campus Ministries, and more. Her drive and dedication to being involved is also mirrored in her academic success. During her time at Penn State, Nicole has remained on the Dean’s List earning a GPA of 3.78 or higher every semester. Nicole has also developed as a young scholar and researcher during her time at Penn State by participating in the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP) and the McNair Scholar’s Program. She has presented research at the annual McNair/SROP conference as well as at the University of Maryland McNair Symposium, and was recently awarded the Fannie Lou Hamer and W.E.B. DuBois Scholarship. Nicole has accepted an offer from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, to pursue a Ph.D. in applied developmental psychology.
