William Okrafo-Smart

William Okrafo-Smart is a first-generation college student from Philadelphia. He is a Schreyer Honors Scholar, a Paterno Fellow, and a Brook J. Lenfest Scholar. In addition to his academic achievements, he has pursued various educational and leadership opportunities outside of the classroom. He currently works for the World in Conversation Project, where he trains students in the art of facilitating cross-cultural conversations. Moreover, he recently served as an intern in Cape Town, South Africa, with iKhaya Le Langa, a social enterprise aimed at reversing the legacy of Apartheid. In this position, he designed, facilitated, and implemented workshops to teach the youth of Langa leadership and business skills. Will has also contributed to the MRC Leadership Council and BLUEprint and has participated in research at the University of Pennsylvania, in entrepreneurial competitions, and in volunteer programs. He was recently selected to represent the Global and International Studies Major as Student Marshal. Will has obtained a position as an educator with Teach For America.
