Karina Grullón Pérez

B.S., Biology; Spanish and Psychology Minors

Karina Grullón Pérez is a first-generation senior and a Schreyer Honors Scholar. She has conducted biochemistry research in the Penn State Rolls Lab, lung cancer research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, and global health research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where she presented at the CHOP Global Health Conference. Karina has participated in three Penn State Alternative Break trips to Philadelphia, Detroit, and Niagara Falls, and in a medical mission trip to Panama through Global Medical Brigades. She has also served as a tour guide and officer for the Student Minority Advisory and Recruitment Team and has worked for three years as program assistant for the Ritner Experience, where she mentored first-year students. Karina will attend medical school in the fall at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine on a full-tuition scholarship. Her dream is to become a physician and serve underserved communities.
