Dara Sanoubane, M.A.
Counselor / AASIA Program Adviser
Dara Sanoubane completed a Bachelor’s of Science with a concentration in Psychology at Oregon State University and then earned a Master of Arts in Teaching at Willamette University. Her career as an educator began as a Math and Science teacher at the Vancouver Public Schools in Washington State. She then worked with college students, as an instructor and internship coordinator at State University of New York at Oswego.
Dara was born in Vientiane, Laos and grew up in Portland, Oregon. She enjoys traveling and has lived in Australia and Japan. She values the unique cultural background of each individual. As a counselor for the Multicultural Resource Center at Penn State, Dara looks forward to helping students ensure their success!
Dara is also the advisor for the Asian American Students in Action (AASIA) program. A mentoring program for Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) students who are new to University Park, AASIA is designed to assist students with their adjustment. AASIA strives to cultivate meaningful mentoring relations that foster the holistic development of its participants.
