Michael C. Wood, is a 22 year educator who has worked within several secondary and post-secondary institutions. Mike began his career as a technology education instructor, athletic director and career coach within wrestling, football, and track and field.  A proud graduate of Norfolk State University with a B.S. degree in Technology Education and The University of Phoenix with a M.S. in Administration and Supervision. Mike holds a PhD in Workforce Education and Development (Post-Secondary Leadership). Mike’s research focuses upon non-cognitive development, anti-deficit thinking frameworks in education, critical race theory, micro-aggression and preparing students for work place development in the 21st century as it relates to students of color.

Mike also facilitates the Black Male & Latino Male Empowerment Group (BMEG/LMEG). The purpose of this group is to give African American & Latino males with a shared experience on a majority white campus an opportunity to embrace their Penn State experience, establish community based strategies, build relationships and take advantage of all academic and social opportunities within the University. Additionally Mike is also a facilitator for a new student group called Cubaniches! The purpose of this organization is to serve as a hub for the Cuban community and to promote Cuban culture at the Pennsylvania State University.

A New Jersey native, Mike has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Caribbean and has lived in Great Britain for over 5 years.  He enjoys working with students and developing opportunities for their success.
