Vernon L. Carraway, Ph.D.

Vernon Carraway

Dr. Carraway completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Sociology and Psychology at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania (1974), and went on to earn a Master of Education at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida (1976).  Additionally, he has pursued postgraduate work at Boston University's School of Theology and Social Ethics.  He completed his doctorate degree in 2007, at The Pennsylvania State University, College of Education, Workforce Education and Development Program. Prior to his arrival at Penn State, he served as Executive Director of Human Resources to a small 8(a) minority-owned and operated, systems engineering firm for the United States Department of Defense.

His interests include early career development, and Competency-Based Coaching Performance Improvement—a researched-based approach to coaching that closes gaps between what is expected of coaching and the proven competencies one delivers.
