Application Information

The Maguire Scholars Program at Penn State select students coming out of a Maguire Foundation partner high school. The Maguire Foundation provides last dollar scholarship support to up to five students in their incoming freshman class for four years of matriculation. Scholars must remain in good academic standing and be an active participant in school and the community.

Eligibility

  • Qualify for admission to Penn State University Park
  • Must attend Penn State University Park
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by Penn State's Financial Aid Office; Must be PELL eligible
  • Graduate from a Maguire Foundation partner high school
  • Have at least a 3.0 grade-point average or equivalent in high school
  • Be engaged in community service and/or extracurricular activities
  • Contribute at least $5,000 per year to tuition, room, and board
  • Participate in regular high school "intrusive counseling" in accordance with University requirements
  • Participate in an annual Maguire Scholars Leadership Through Service Program event
  • Complete a Maguire Scholars Program Application 
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from supervisor of a volunteer, community service or extracurricular activity
  • Complete FAFSA for 2020-21

Online Application

The 2020-2021 application process will open at NOON EST on Monday, January 6, 2020, and will close Friday, February 14, 2020 at NOON EST.

Letter of Recommendation

Your application needs to include a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, counselor, or community leader who can accurately assess your potential to maximize this scholarship opportunity.

A completed application requires the online application form and electronic upload of a letter of recommendation by Friday, February 14, 2020, at NOON EST.

Note: Incomplete or late applications will be deemed ineligible.
