Application Information

Thank you for your interest in the Maguire Scholars Program at Penn State. The Maguire Scholars application process for 2021–2022 is open, and completed applications must be submitted by noon on Friday, February 12, 2021, (EST). Late applications will not be accepted. Please use the link below to complete the application in its entirety, including submitting your letter of recommendation. If you need to leave the application, you can save it and return to it at another time; however, you must access it from the original device that was used in order to return to the saved application.

Application Information

The Maguire Scholars Program at Penn State selects students who graduate from a Maguire Foundation partner high school. The Maguire Foundation provides last-dollar scholarship support to up to five students beginning in their first year for a maximum of eight semester. Scholars must remain in good academic standing and be an active participant in school and their community.

Eligibility to Apply

  • Qualify for admission to and attend Penn State University Park
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by Penn State's Financial Aid Office
  • Graduate from a Maguire Foundation partner high school
  • Have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average or equivalent in high school
  • Be engaged in community action, extracurricular activities, or leadership programs
  • Contribute at least $5,000 per year to tuition, room, and board
  • Complete a Maguire Scholars Program Application
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, counselor, or community leader
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid

The Maguire Scholars Program at Penn State

  • Receive support and mentorship from an academic coach in the Office of Scholars Programs
  • Meet monthly with all Maguire Scholars for peer engagement and support
  • Develop and complete community action or service-learning project each semester
  • First-year Scholars will live in the Educational Equity Scholars Special Living Option in Beaver Hall and attend a Scholars Seminar during their fall and spring semesters
