Milestone 2: What You’ll Learn

Workshop 1: Introduction to Bias Response

This professional development session introduces participants to Bias Response — the University’s coordinated, campus-wide approach to addressing reported bias incidents that impact Penn State students. The session includes an overview of Penn State’s bias response process, including what to do when bias occurs, how to offer support, and how to connect people to appropriate resources.

Workshop 2: Tools for Compassionate Communication

Here, we’ll explore the foundations of compassionate communication. Participants will examine different communication styles, consider how culture and identity inform communication, practice strategies for listening, speaking, and responding with intention, and share individual commitments for bringing more compassion to everyday dialogue.
