Women of Color Empowerment Group (WOCE)
The WOCE group helps to provide a supportive space in which the experiences of women of color on a majority White campus are discussed. WOCE are open to all students regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, race, or any other protected class.
This group is not intended for journalistic, research or course credit purposes.
The group explores topics such as identity and relationships, among others. It aims to empower and enhance students’ voices, and to encourage students to fully embrace their Penn State experience through academic excellence and relationship-building. This group has been a long-standing collaboration between the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Information disclosed during these private meetings is considered confidential.
"The Women of Color Empowerment Group is a safe haven and sisterhood where women can share their stories and outlooks with each other while empowering one another. No one is judged, and the group is welcoming with open arms. It is an unbreakable bond that we have, and I am very proud to be a part of it." ~ R. Stukes
