Deborah M Meder
Assistant Controller, Office of the Corporate Controller
I began my career in broadcasting and then decided to get an MBA so I could move into broadcast management, but I never made it. During my MBA program I determined that accounting was the appropriate field for me.
Key event in career
The mentoring that I received early in my career which allowed me to build relationships with leaders who eventually influenced my appointment as assistant controller. Their confidence in my abilities and their advocacy for me was significant to my success.
How she expanded her sphere of influence
By always being willing to take on new challenges. By mentoring others informally through advice and counsel as I have opportunities.
