Rick Derrickson, ’91 Sci.

Rick is currently the Vice President of External Manufacturing at Organon International, GmBH. He is an experienced pharmaceutical executive who has held numerous site and global positions at Merck & Co., Inc. and Organon International, GmBH. Over his 33+ years in the pharmaceutical industry, he has worked in a broad range of areas including: Manufacturing Operations, Quality, and Product Development.

Rick and his wife Amy (PSU ’92, Hospitality Management), are currently based in Lucerne, Switzerland. They have three children, Conner (JMU ’19, Econ), Kyle (UVM ’21, Fin) and Rylie Derrickson (PSU ’27 Edu). 

Over the years he has stayed connected with the university through undergraduate recruiting and corporate networking groups.  He served for several years as a corporate sponsor for Smeal, Center for Supply Chain Research (CSCR).  While on assignment in Europe he has also been fortunate to grow his network by connecting with the Penn State Internation community.

Exposure to the mission and goals of the Educational Equity Advisory Board came through a close friendship with a board member.  The opportunity join the EE Advisory Board was an honor and a cherished opportunity to give back in a meaningful way. 

His observant, analytical, and empathetic nature, coupled with his strong desire to contribute, highlights his eagerness to engage and make a lasting impact, instilling a sense of hope and optimism in those he works with.
