Born and raised in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, Ms. Selina Tineo came to United States in 2010 when she was sixteen years old. Living in this country has been one of the most difficult experiences in her life. Barely motivated to finish high school, Selina never entertained the thought of attending college. English has always been a challenge for her; reading and writing have always been her weaknesses. Through hard work and determination, she graduated from Reading High School. In a family where no one had graduated from college, Selina felt unsupported in her decision to attend Millersville University, but she always felt that her biggest responsibility is to educate herself and be the change agent in  her family.

Selina is dedicated to giving back to the community of Reading. Her first job after college was as a Student Support Specialist with the Migrant Education Program.  In addition to her current Upward Bound counselor responsibilities, she can also be found on weekends at The Children's Home of Reading, where she works as a Youth Behavioral Specialist, providing emotional and behavioral support to its residents.

When she’s not working, Selina enjoys dancing and listening to Bachata and Merengue. She loves spending time with family and friends and learning about different cultures.
