Strategic Plan Process

The Office of Educational Equity 2025–2036 Strategic Plan is more than a document. It's the result of a deliberate, inclusive process, one that began inside individual teams and expanded outward until it reached every corner of our community. Here's how that journey unfolded.

Built together. Driven by purpose.

Our strategic plan wasn't handed down—it was built from the ground up, shaped by every voice in our community.

Where it began circle iconRooted in the work of every team

Each office within the Educational Equity unit developed their own office level plans-grounded in their unique expertise and day-to-day realities. These unit-level plans were then synthesized into a single, comprehensive initial unit wide strategic plan. The whole grew from the parts.

Internal Review circle iconReviewed, challenged, and refined

Educational Equity's Leadership and Management teams examined the plan with a critical eye. Then every team member within Educational Equity had the opportunity to review the plan and provide feedback — because a strategy is only as strong as the people it represents.

Expanding the Circle circle iconOpened to the broader community

The updated plan was shared with internal and external stakeholders, as well as community partners. Their perspectives helped pressure-test our thinking, fill gaps, and ensure our plan reflected the communities we exist to serve.

The Final Step circle iconApproved and ready to lead

The final Educational Equity 2025–2036 Strategic Plan was shared with Penn State’s Provost office and approved in January 2026. After months of collaboration, our shared direction is official- and the real work begins now.

This plan belongs to all of us—because all of us helped shape it.

From frontline teams to university leadership, from community members to strategic partners — the Educational Equity 2025–2036 plan reflects a shared commitment to equity that was earned through real conversation, real feedback, and real trust.
