How will my proposal be reviewed?

Proposal review process

All EDGE proposals are reviewed by a team of graduate students, staff, and faculty volunteers from across the University.

Review team responsibilities

  • Evaluate proposals against established criteria
  • Decide whether a proposal is funded
  • Determine the amount of funding awarded

Review criteria

Proposals are evaluated based on:

  • Alignment with EDGE purpose and Penn State priorities
  • Clarity of the problem statement and documented need
  • Strength of the proposed intervention or program design
  • Potential to improve faculty, staff, and/or student success outcomes
  • Attention to equity, belonging, and documented disparities
  • Quality of the assessment and evidence-building plan
  • Feasibility, capacity, budget, and timeline
  • Sustainability and institutionalization potential
  • Appropriate and ethical use of AI, if proposed
  • Value of cross-unit or interdisciplinary collaboration, where relevant
