How will my proposal be reviewed?
Proposal review process
All EDGE proposals are reviewed by a team of graduate students, staff, and faculty volunteers from across the University.
Review team responsibilities
- Evaluate proposals against established criteria
- Decide whether a proposal is funded
- Determine the amount of funding awarded
Review criteria
Proposals are evaluated based on:
- Alignment with EDGE purpose and Penn State priorities
- Clarity of the problem statement and documented need
- Strength of the proposed intervention or program design
- Potential to improve faculty, staff, and/or student success outcomes
- Attention to equity, belonging, and documented disparities
- Quality of the assessment and evidence-building plan
- Feasibility, capacity, budget, and timeline
- Sustainability and institutionalization potential
- Appropriate and ethical use of AI, if proposed
- Value of cross-unit or interdisciplinary collaboration, where relevant
