Lenfest Scholars Program
About
The Brook J. Lenfest Trustee Scholarship was established to provide support for students from Mastery Charter Schools and participants of the Philadelphia Futures program attending Penn State University Park. Brook J. Lenfest balances a successful career with a conviction to give back to the community by focusing on its education resources. Lenfest co-founded a Philadelphia-based charter school system, Mastery Charter Schools, that now operates four high-performing middle/high schools. A nonprofit organization, Philadelphia Futures provides low-income, first-generation college students with resources and information about the college going process.
The Lenfest Scholars program provides unique educational opportunities and support. Lenfest Scholars are part of the Penn State Educational Equity Scholars Programs community, a group of students who bring diverse perspectives, identities, and interests to Penn State. Lenfest Scholars join a cohort of their classmates in a living-learning program and receive guidance from a mentor in their respective college, as well as academic coaching from the Office of Scholars Programs and the Multicultural Resource Center. Lenfest Scholars are selected by Penn State in partnership with the Lenfest Trustee Scholarship committee.
Since 2000, Lenfest Scholars enrich the learning community at Penn State. Lenfest Scholars are enrolled in academic colleges across University Park, and embody Penn State’s values of community, respect, responsibility, integrity, excellence, and discovery. The Lenfest Scholars program reflects Penn State’s commitment to academic excellence and human advancement by valuing the learning and growth that comes from engaging with a diverse and inclusive community.
