DECEMBER 2024
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens for the next academic year. (Note: Complete your FAFSA form early to maximize your eligibility.)
MARCH 2025
Applicants who complete the need-based aid application and submit a FAFSA for the following academic year by this date will receive an estimated financial aid letter by March 31.
JUNE & JULY 2025
Loan applications may be submitted. Watch for instructions.
EARLY AUGUST 2025
All loan application steps should be complete.
LATE AUGUST 2025
Those who borrowed funds in excess of tuition and fees will receive refunds for living expenses for the fall semester.

Note: The typical recipient of a Smeal College scholarship is a sophomore or junior at the time of application, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher, and has unmet financial need. However, all currently enrolled students are eligible to apply.

Military Specific Scholarships for Education
Bruno M. Baggio Scholarship
Full-time undergraduate students in the College of Education who have served or are serving the United States military, which shall be inclusive of those who were honorably discharged, veterans, active duty, reservists, or National Guard. In addition, preference shall also be given to children/dependents and spouses of United States military members. First preference to students majoring in Rehabilitation and Human Services; second preference to students majoring in Special Education.

Charles A. Baltzer and Margaret J. Baltzer Scholarship
Full-time undergraduate students in the College of Education who have a demonstrated financial need and who have served or are United States military students, including honorably-discharged veterans, active duty, or currently-serving Reserve or National Guard from all the United States military services. Children/dependents of United States military students or students participating in an ROTC program at the University are also eligible.

Marjorie Resta Young and Donald L. Young Endowed Scholarship
Full-time undergraduate students majoring in Secondary Education. First preference to students who are United States military students or enrolled in an ROTC program who are pursuing a teaching option in Mathematics or Science. Second preference shall be given to students who are pursuing a teaching option in Mathematics or Science.

U.S. Military and Veterans Financial Benefits
- In-state tuition for veterans: Penn State has always participated at the full amount in the Yellow Ribbon Program; however, the 2016 Choice Act makes this component no longer necessary. All eligible veterans and dependents receiving Chapter 33, Chapter 35, or Fry Scholarship benefits will be eligible for in-state tuition regardless of residency.
- Application fee waiver: SIA will waive the application fee for any current or retired military personnel, active or reserve component. Contact admissions@sia.psu.edu to receive your fee waiver code.
- Merit-based scholarships: Submit your application by January 31 to be considered for merit-based scholarships. This evaluation is automatic and does not require any additional forms.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill® — Students who are 100 percent eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill® will receive full tuition and fees coverage at Penn State Dickinson Law. Those less than 100 percent eligible will receive a prorated amount based on their service percentage. Interested students must submit a Certificate of Eligibility to Penn State Dickinson Law.
