Scholarships for students with disabilities
Applying

A single application is used for all Educational Equity scholarships.

Applicants do not need to be working with Student Disability Resources in order to qualify for scholarships available to students with disabilities. Therefore it is important that applicants self-identify for any category they wish to be considered for.

Available Scholarships


Andrew J. Hartman Memorial Scholarship

Consideration for the scholarship shall be given to full-time undergraduate students of at least sophomore academic standing enrolled at The Pennsylvania State University who have achieved a grade point average of at least 2.5 and who are defined having a disability under provisions of Section 504, 1973 Rehabilitation Act and/or the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended. First preference shall be given to students who live with physical disabilities or mobility conditions.

Bobbi Coulter Rich Scholarship

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time or part-time students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University who have end stage renal disease or who are awaiting to have received a kidney transplant. Eligibility can be broadened to include students with a chronic renal condition or disorder or students who have multiple disabilities.

Charlotte W. Newcombe Scholarship

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University as degree-seeking students who identify as having a disability under Section 504, 1973 Rehabilitation Act as amended. Additional criteria for consideration include demonstrated academic achievement, serious career orientation, and demonstrated financial need.

Cory A. Wincek-Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation Memorial Scholarship for Students with Physical Disabilities

Consideration for this scholarship shall be to provide recognition and financial assistance to undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University who live with a physically disability.

Dale and Rosaline Hollinger Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all graduate and undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University who have a disability. First preference shall be given to students with a physical disability.

Dale W. Hollinger-Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation Scholarship

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at the University who have a demonstrated financial need for funds to meet their necessary college expenses. First preference shall be given to students who

David E. Gallagher-Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation Memorial Endowed Trustee Scholarship

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University who have a demonstrated financial need. First preference shall be given to students from the eligible pool who are defined as having a disability under provisions of Section 504, 1973 Rehabilitation Act, as amended.

David R. Martino Memorial Scholarship

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to any full-time student enrolled or planning to enroll at the University with a documented need for financial assistance and who is considered to have a disability under the provisions of Section 504, 1973 Rehabilitation Act as amended.

Delta Chi Handicapped Student Grant Fund

Consideration for this grant shall be given to all graduate and/or undergraduate students currently enrolled at the University Park Campus of The Pennsylvania State University who are considered to have a disability under the provisions of Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, as amended. Additional criteria include demonstrated academic achievement, character, leadership, and financial need.

Delta Gamma Golden Anchor Award

Consideration for this award shall be given to all students with a visual disability who have completed at least three terms at the University, have achieved a minimum grade point average of 2.5, and who have demonstrated perseverance and strength of character.

Howard C. and Betty B. Woodring – Newcombe Foundation Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled The Pennsylvania State University who have a demonstrated financial need and who have a disability as defined under the provisions of Section 504, 1973 Rehabilitation Act, as amended. Preference shall be given to students enrolled at Penn State Altoona.

Jason C. and Martha Lee Stone Scholarship in Honor of Solveig and Frederick Samuel Dietz

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time graduate and undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University who have achieved positive academic records or who manifest promise of academic success, who live with a physical disability, and who have a demonstrated financial need. First preference shall be given to graduate students. For the purpose of this scholarship, physical disabilities shall include mobility limitations and severe vision or hearing loss.

Osaze Olufemi Osagie Memorial Scholarship for Educational Equity 

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at the University, with intellectual or mental health diagnoses, who contribute to the diversity of the student body.

Michael McCauley Legacy Scholarship 

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University who have a life-threatening illness or who have fought a life-threatening illness and have a registered disability, as documented with the Student Disability Resources Office.

Perrotta Family-Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University who have demonstrated financial need and who live with a disability as defined under provisions of Section 504, 1973 Rehabilitation Act, as amended. First preference shall be given to undergraduate and graduate students who meet the above mentioned criteria, who are participating in the disability recreation programs and who may have military service connected disabilities. Students must be registered with the Office of Disability Services and the Office of Veterans Programs at any Penn State Campus.

Polis Charitable Foundation – Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University who have demonstrated financial need and who live with a disability as defined under provisions of Section 504, 1973 Rehabilitation Act, as amended. Necessary college expenses can include, but are not limited to, tuition assistance and technology for the hearing impaired such as machines or interpreters. First preference shall be given to undergraduate and graduate students who meet the above mentioned criteria and who are hearing impaired.

The Charles T. and Ella Fowler Douds Scholarship Fund

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to deserving students who are enrolled as full-time students at The Pennsylvania State University, who have achieved superior academic records and who manifest promise of future success in their field. Preference shall be given, but not limited to, applicants with chronic health problems, such as diabetes, impairment of sight or hearing, inability to walk or other physical disabilities.

Virginia G. Rimer Memorial Scholarship

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time graduate and undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University who have achieved superior academic records or who manifest promise of outstanding academic success and who have a disability.
